NOTICES

Bureau of Motor Vehicles; State Implementation Plan--Public Hearing

   The Department of Transportation, Bureau of Motor Vehicles intends to hold public hearings for the purpose of accepting comments on the proposed State Implementation Plan.

   The Department of Transportation proposes to implement section 182 of The Clean Air Act Amendment of 1990, as amended by Pub. L. 101-54, November 15, 1990, 104 Stat. 2399-2712, (42 U.S.C.A. §§ 7401-26718) and Pub. L. 104-59, November 27, 1995, ____ Stat. ____ (known as the National Highway System Designation Act of 1995) requiring the State to develop an enhanced vehicle inspection and maintenance (I/M) program. The enhanced I/M program will include 25 counties in Pennsylvania. This State Implementation Plan outlines the program that the State will implement. The National Highway Designation Act of 1995 requires that this enhanced I/M State Implementation Plan be submitted to the Environmental Protection Agency no later than March 27, 1996. The Department strenuously and earnestly invites comments on this proposed State Implementation Plan.

   Three hearings will be held, all commencing at 1 p.m., at the following dates and locations:

   Monday, February 26, 1996

   Wednesday, February 28, 1996
   Freedom Hall
   Upper Merion Township Bldg.
   175 W. Valley Forge Road
   King of Prussia, PA

   Friday, March 1, 1996
   DEP Main Auditorium
   Second Floor, Rachael Carson State Office Bldg.
   4th and Market Streets
   Harrisburg, PA

   The public meeting locations are accessible to persons having disabilities. Persons with special needs or requiring special aids are requested to contact the Department prior to the meeting so that special disability needs may be accommodated.

   Persons wishing to present testimony at the hearing or needing special accommodations should contact, at least 1 week prior to the hearings, Becki Mescher-Vuxta at the Department of Transportation, 915 Transportation and Safety Building, Harrisburg, PA 17120 or telephone (717) 787-9626. Two written copies of oral testimony are to be submitted at the hearing. Copies of the proposed State Implementation Plan are available by contacting Becki Mescher-Vuxta at the above address. Comments must be received no later than March 6, 1996, to be considered.
