DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATION AND NATURAL RESOURCES

Interagency Land Exchange between the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Department of Transportation

[28 Pa.B. 2933]

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, acting through the Bureau of Forestry, and the Department of Transportation are proposing a mutual exchange of property in Tioga County. These transfers of lands are under that portion of the Route 15 limited access highway project between the summit of Bloss Mountain to a point just north of the Borough of Blossburg.

The Bureau of Forestry will relinquish to the Department of Transportation a total of 215.02 acres of the Tioga State Forest in Liberty, Bloss and Covington Townships, and the Borough of Blossburg, for the purposes of limited access and other related rights of way.

In return, the Department of Transportation plans to convey to the Bureau of Forestry six tracts in the Borough of Blossburg containing altogether approximately 251.35 acres of land. These properties are bounded substantially by existing State Forest holdings, the westerly right of way of the proposed limited access highway, and are intended to be administered as part of the Tioga State Forest.

As is the policy of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the public is hereby notified of this exchange. A 30-day period for public inquiry and/or comment will be in effect commencing June 29, 1998 and ending July 28, 1998. Oral or written comments or questions concerning this proposed exchange may be addressed to: Dr. James R. Grace, State Forester, Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry, P. O. Box 8552, Harrisburg, PA 17105-8552; telephone (717) 787-2703. These oral and/or written comments will become part of the official document used in the final decision process.

If, in the duration of the 30-day comment period, a significant amount of public concern develops, the Secretary of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources may schedule a public informational hearing.

JOHN C. OLIVER,
Secretary
