   The Health Care Cost Containment Council (Council), according to its enabling legislation, is to publish a listing of all special reports and data that have been prepared during the previous calendar year. The following represents a summary of the reports and requests for data generated by the Council in calendar year 1998. Listing of Data Releases

Agency for Health Care Policy & Research The standard Statewide 1996 inpatient discharge data, including confidential data elements will be used in the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project.
Aspen Healthcare Metrics, Inc. The customized 1996 inpatient discharge data base will be used for consulting purposes to analyze cardiac cases originating in southwestern/western New York state that seek care outside the state of New York.
Brandeis University The standard 1994-1995 CABG data set will be used for a research project funded by the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research.
Center for Healthcare Industry Performance Studies The standard Statewide second, third and fourth quarter 1996 inpatient discharge data will be used in a commercial software product.
Children's Hospital of Boston The standard Statewide 1996 inpatient discharge data for patients under the age of 18 will be used to analyze the variability in the use of procedures and outcomes for pediatric cardiac diseases.
Goldberg Enterprise Services The custom report using 1995 Region 9 inpatient discharge data will be used in a project that will determine a population base for the calculation of capitation rates.
Good Shephard Rehab Hospital The custom report for selected DRGs using 1995 inpatient discharge data will be used to study the market of referring and nonreferring hospitals by examining the number of rehab related DRGs at each target institution.
Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital The standard 1996 inpatient discharge data for Pocono Medical Center will be used to determine if a business relationship can be developed between the two facilities.
Haygroup The third and fourth quarter 1996 and first and second quarter 1997 inpatient discharge data for select facilities will be used for consulting purposes to analyze clinical efficiency statistics among participating Canadian teaching hospitals using USA data as a comparison.
Health Care Choices The customized report of mastectomy and breast conserving surgery in 1997 will be placed on the requestor's web site as a tool to inform the public.
Health Strategies & Solutions, Inc. The customized 1996 market share report will be used for consulting purposes with Marian Community Hospital.
Health Strategies and Solutions, Inc. The custom 1995 market share report for select zip codes will be used for consulting purposes with Marian Community Hospital.
Healthscope, Inc. The customized 1991-1997 inpatient discharge data and 1996 ambulatory data will be used to analyze trends of a particular physician.
HighmarkThe standard Statewide 1996 inpatient discharge data will be used to conduct community reporting and consulting, selective contracting, utilization review and applied health services research.
Hospital Council of W. PA The standard Statewide 1996 ambulatory data will be used in a commercial software product.
Hospital Council of W. PAThe standard Statewide 1997 inpatient discharge data will be used in a commercial software product.
Hospital Executive CouncilThe customized 1996 and first and second quarter 1997 inpatient discharge data for New York residents receiving care in PA will be used to identify admission and utilization rates of New Yorkers going out of state for care.
Hospital of the University of PAThe standard 1996 ambulatory data set for the Hospital of the University of PA will be used for internal quality improvement efforts.
Institute for Health Care Policy and Research The standard Statewide 1996 inpatient discharge data will be used for aggregate statistical analysis in studies on the effect of managed care in academic health centers.
Intellimed International Corporation The standard Statewide second, third and fourth quarter 1996 inpatient discharge data will be used in a commercial software product.
Intellimed International Corporation The standard Statewide 1997 inpatient discharge data will be used in a commercial software product.
Lancaster General Hospital The third and fourth quarter 1996 and first and second quarter 1997 inpatient discharge data for Community Hospital of Lancaster will be used for market share analysis.
Lehigh Valley Business Conference on Health Care A customized report using 1996 inpatient discharge data will be used to determine potential sites for selective contracting by the employer members of the Business Conference.
Lehigh Valley Hospital The second, third and fourth quarter 1996 standard Statewide inpatient discharge data will be used for market share analysis.
Lehigh Valley Hospital The standard Statewide 1997 inpatient discharge data will be used for market share analysis and internal research.
MediQual Systems, Inc. The standard Statewide 1997 inpatient discharge data will be used in a commercial software product.
MediQual Systems, Inc. The standard Statewide 1996 inpatient discharge data will be used in a commercial software product.
National Jewish Medical and Research Center The customized 1996-1997 inpatient data base for Medicaid patient admissions related to asthma will be used to evaluate an internal program.
North Philadelphia Health SystemThe third and fourth quarter 1996 and first and second quarter 1997 inpatient discharge data for Region 9 will be used for payor analysis and DRG and length of stay research.
Oconco Health Care Consultants The custom 1996 inpatient discharge data for a select range of zip codes will be used to investigate utilization rates and trends in patient migration in the tri-state area.
PA Office of the Attorney General The standard Statewide third and fourth quarter 1995 and first and second quarter 1996 inpatient discharge data will be used in the analysis of facilities.
PA Department of Health The standard Statewide 1996 inpatient discharge data will be used to prepare annual reports of injury related data, special topical monographs and respond to requests for aggregate data at the local level. The subcontractor will be the University of Pittsburgh, Center for Violence and Injury Control.
PA Department of Health The standard Statewide 1997 inpatient discharge data will be used for research purposes.
PA Department of Health, Division of Health Statistics The standard Statewide 1992 through 1997 inpatient discharge data will be used for a Federal research project funded by the Center for Substance Abuse and Treatment to determine the need for substance abuse treatment services in Pennsylvania.
PA Department of Health The standard Statewide 1995 and 1996 inpatient discharge data already purchased by the Department will also be used for research on hospital discharges related to motorcycle injuries.
PA Department of Health, Legislative Affairs The customized report of hospitalizations due to influenza or pneumonia using 1996 inpatient discharge data will be used for internal research.
PA Department of Health, Bureau of Chronic Diseases The customized report using 1996 inpatient discharge data for inpatient and emergency room data as it relates to asthma will be used for internal research.
PA Department of Health, Division of Immunizations The customized report using 1994, 1995,1996 and 1997 inpatient discharge data for pneumonia hospitalizations will be used for research purposes.
PA Department of Public Welfare The 1995-1996 Hospital Financial Report data will be used for research purposes.
PA Heart Institute The standard 1996 inpatient discharge data for Regions 6, 7 and 8 for cardiac catheterizations will be used to estimate market demand and assess competition for these services.
PA Office of the Attorney General The third and fourth quarter 1996 and first and second quarter 1997 inpatient discharge data will be used to investigate a hospital merger.
PACEThe 1995-1997 Statewide inpatient discharge data for PACE members will be used to evaluate the impact of drugs and hospitalizations in the elderly.
Parente, Randolph, Orland & Carey The custom 1996 inpatient discharge data for selected counties will be used for internal informational purposes.
Parenti, Randolph, OrlandoThe third and fourth quarter 1995 and first and second quarter 1996 inpatient discharge data for select facilities will be used in preparation of a financial feasibility study for use by Parente Randolph.
Pottsville Hospital and Warne ClinicA custom report for selected DRGs and zip codes for Schuylkill County using 1995 inpatient discharge data will be used to improve health care services.
Premier, Inc.The standard Statewide 1995 and 1996 inpatient discharge data will be used in a commercial software product.
Princeton UniversityThe 1991 through 1993 CABG data set will be used to conduct research on the relationship between surgeon characteristics and outcomes.
Representative Dwight Evans The customized report of gunshot wounds using 1996 inpatient discharge data will be used for internal research purposes.
Representative Merle PhillipsThe customized report of motor vehicle accidents using 1996 inpatient discharge data will be used for research purposes.
Sachs Group The standard Statewide first and second quarter 1996 inpatient discharge data will be used in a commercial software package.
Sachs Group The standard Statewide 1997 inpatient discharge data will be used in a commercial software product.
Southern Chester County Medical Center The standard 1996 and 1997 inpatient discharge data for Regions 5, 8 and 9 will be used for marketing purposes and to evaluate surrounding competition.
The Lewin Group The customized 1996 inpatient discharge data base will be used for consulting purposes under contract with General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, United Auto Workers and the International Union of Electrical Workers to support community-level health assessments for Warren/Youngstown, Ohio.
The MEDSTAT Group, Inc. The standard Statewide 1995 and 1996 inpatient discharge data will be used in a commercial software product.
The MEDSTAT Group, Inc. The standard Statewide 1997 inpatient discharge data will be used in a commercial software product.
The Morning Call 1996 inpatient discharge data for Lehigh Valley Hospital will be used to research health related topics for daily newspaper stories.
University of Pittsburgh Custom 1994 inpatient discharge data for trauma patients will be combined with EMS records to research how well Pennsylvania does in getting seriously injured patients to trauma centers.
US Dept of Military &Veterans Affairs A report using Statewide 1995-1996 inpatient discharge data will be used by the CounterDrug Program to report on health and hospital issues related to drug use.
Washington County Hospital The custom report using 1995 inpatient discharge data for selected hospitals and DRGs will be used to measure market share and out migration patterns of Maryland residents receiving care in Washington County Hospital's service area.
Wei-Der TsaiThe 1996-1995 Hospital Financial Report data will be used in a research project.
