THE GOVERNOR

Concurrent Legislative Jurisdiction; Defense Personnel Support Center, Philadelphia, PA

   On July 9, 1997, Governor Ridge accepted concurrent legislative jurisdiction over all of the Defense Personnel Support Center in Philadelphia, PA, formerly referred to as the Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot, under the act of August 5, 1977, P. L. 181 No. 47, §§ 1-2; 74 P. S. §§ 3-4. Notification that the Governor intended to accept concurrent legislative jurisdiction on behalf of the Commonwealth was published in the Pennsylvania Bulletin on May 31, 1997. The Governor's final written acceptance is printed in full as follows:

Dear Deputy Assistant Secretary Johnson:

   I write in response to the Department of Army's July 25, 1995 proposal to retrocede concurrent legislative jurisdiction over the premises within the Defense Personnel Support Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. On behalf of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, I am pleased to accept concurrent legislative jurisdiction over this federal enclave pursuant to the Act of August 5, 1977, P. L. 191 No. 47, §§ 1-2; 74 P. S. §§ 3-4.
