Professional Standards and Practices Commission; Application of Joseph Vance for Reinstatement of Teaching Certificate--Social Studies; Doc. No. RE-98-01

   Under the Teacher Certification Law (24 P. S. §§ 2070.1--2070.18), the Professional Standards and Practices Commission (Commission) will consider the application of Joseph Vance for reinstatement of his Instructional I Social Studies teaching certificate.

   Joseph Vance filed an application for reinstatement of his teaching certificate as stated previously under section 16 of the Teacher Certification Law (24 P. S. § 2070.16), the General Rules of Administrative Practice and Procedure (1 Pa. Code §§ 35.1--35.2) and 22 Pa. Code § 233.14 (relating to reinstatements). Under section 16, the Department of Education on January 20, 1999 stated it does not oppose the reinstatement of Joseph Vance's certificate.

   In accordance with the Teacher Certification Law, the General Rules of Administrative Practice and Procedure and 22 Pa. Code § 233.14 (d) (relating to waiver of hearing), the Commission will act upon the application without hearing, unless within 30 days after the publication of this notice a written request for public hearing is filed with the Commission, along with a notice of intervention, a petition to intervene or protest in accordance with 1 Pa. Code §§ 35.23 and 35.24 (relating to protest) or 1 Pa. Code §§ 35.27--35.32 (relating to intervention).

   All petitions to intervene, protests and requests for hearing shall be filed with Carolyn Angelo, Executive Director of the Professional Standards and Practices Commission, at 333 Market Street, Harrisburg, PA 17126-0333, on or before 4 p.m. on the due date prescribed by this notice.
