PENNSYLVANIA HOUSING FINANCE AGENCY

Availability of Year 2001 PennHOMES Program Funds

   The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) is announcing the availability of year 2001 PennHOMES Program Funds. PennHOMES Program funds include Federal HOME Program funds and Agency funds and may be utilized for the construction and permanent financing of multifamily rental housing developments located in this Commonwealth containing five or more units.

   Reservations for 2001 PennHOMES funds will be made in two funding cycles. Application deadlines are as follows: December 15, 2000, with reservations of funds anticipated to be made in May 2001; and May 1, 2001, with reservations of funds anticipated to be made in September 2001.

   The two funding cycles will coincide with the application for the Federal Low Income Housing Tax Credit program. The requests for both PennHOMES and the Low Income Housing Tax Credits will be processed simultaneously.

   To assist prospective applicants in understanding the application process, five interactive workshops will be offered Statewide. An overview of the 2001 PennHOMES Program and an explanation of the selection criteria, coupled with determining need and market for the housing, will be included at each of these workshops listed below.

Tuesday 10/10 Scranton
Tuesday 10/17 King of Prussia
Thursday 10/19 New Cumberland

   The registration deadline for these workshops is September 20, 2000. A nonrefundable registration fee of $10 will be charged for each registrant.
