HOUSING FINANCE AGENCY

Availability of Funding through the Transitional Assistance for Needy Families Program Funds for Agency-Administered Housing Initiatives

   The Housing Finance Agency (Agency) is announcing the availability of funding for certain housing initiatives developed in collaboration with the Department of Public Welfare and the Department of Community and Economic Development. This funding announcement invites qualified applicants to submit applications to the Agency for the following specific programs:

   *  Cooperative Housing Program--Funds in the amount of $2 million will be made available to provide technical assistance to qualified entities seeking to create affordable cooperative homeownership opportunities for families with children.

   *  Zero Percent Mortgage Acquisition Program--Funds in the amount of $6 million will be available to allow the Agency to acquire from nonprofit entities existing zero percent mortgages provided to fund home acquisition by families with children.

   *  Family Resource Center Program--Funds in the amount of $2 million will be available to fund families resources center programs developed to provide supportive services to families with children residing at Agency-financed properties (to augment the Agency's existing Philadelphia FRCI program).

   *  Rental Housing Preservation Predevelopment Program--Funds in the amount of $2 million will be available to fund predevelopment costs incurred by nonprofits in preserving at-risk affordable rental housing for families.

   Preapplication sessions and informational meetings regarding the Cooperative Housing Program and the Family Resource Center Program will be held for interested applicants at the locations and times to be announced on the Agency's website at www.phfa.org or by contacting the Agency.

   Specific instructions, eligibility criteria, application instructions and deadlines for funding under each of these initiatives are available at the Agency's website by contacting Charlotte Nelson, Housing Finance Agency, P. O. Box 8029, 2101 North Front Street, Harrisburg, PA 17105-8029.
