Posting of Draft Facility Regulations

   The Department of Health (Department) has posted draft facility regulations on its website at www.health. state.pa.us/draftregs for review and comment. These draft regulations would amend 28 Pa. Code Chapters 51--54, 101, 103, 105, 107 and 109.

   The following chapters will apply to all health care facilities licensed under the Health Care Facilities Act (35 P. S. §§ 448.801--448.904b): Chapter 51 (Overview), Chapter 52 (Patient Safety Improvement), Chapter 53 (Public Health Preparedness) and Chapter 54 (Other Requirements).

   The following chapters will apply to all acute care facilities, both inpatient and outpatient: Chapter 101 (Governance Organization Management), Chapter 103 (Patient Rights), Chapter 105 (Admission Care Planning Discharge), Chapter 107 (Clinical Medical Staff) and Chapter 109 (Nursing).

   The draft regulations are posted in Adobe Acrobat pdf and Microsoft Excel files. The Department requests that comments be submitted through use of Excel. This will assist the Department in insuring that relevant comments are appropriately reviewed.

   Comments on the draft regulations must be submitted by October 15, 2005. Note that these chapters are being posted as draft only and are still undergoing internal review. Some chapters may be revised in whole or in part following further review and input received as a result of this posting.
