INSURANCE DEPARTMENT

Allstate Insurance Group; Homeowners Rate Revision; Rate Filings

   Between April 21, 2006, and April 24, 2006, the Insurance Department (Department) received from the Allstate Insurance Group ten filings, each for an undetermined rate level change, for homeowners and other related insurance coverages. The affected companies are: Allstate Insurance Company, Allstate Indemnity Company, Allstate Property and Casualty Insurance Company, Encompass Indemnity Company and Encompass Insurance Company of America.

   The companies request to introduce a reinsurance charge for the hurricane portion of the net cost of their recently purchased countrywide catastrophe aggregate excess reinsurance. Proposed effective dates vary by filing.

   Unless formal administrative action is taken within 30 days of the Department's date of receipt of a filing, the subject filing may be deemed approved by operation of law.

   Copies of the filings are available on the Department's website at www.ins.state.pa.us. Under the Quick Links section, click on the link ''Rate Filings Published in the PA Bulletin.''

   Copies of the filings are also available for public inspection, by appointment, during normal working hours at the Department's regional office in Harrisburg.

   Interested parties are invited to submit written comments, suggestions or objections to Mike McKenney, Insurance Department, Insurance Product Regulation and Market Enforcement, Room 1311, Strawberry Square, Harrisburg, PA 17120, mmckenney@state.pa.us within 30 days after publication of this notice in the Pennsylvania Bulletin.
