Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield; Medically Underwritten Direct Pay PPO Plan (Western Region)--Filing No. 1A-MUPPO-07-HBCBS; Rate Filing

[37 Pa.B. 2163]
[Saturday, May 5, 2007]

By filing No. 1A-MUPPO-07-HBCBS, Highmark, Inc., d/b/a Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, requests approval to adjust its premium rates for its medically underwritten Direct Pay PPO Plan and Direct Pay PPO High Deductible Health Plans in Western PA Region. The filing requests an average increase of about 7.1% or $16.97 per contract per month. This will affect about 12,500 contract-holders and produce additional annual premium income of about $2.5 million. The filing also adjusts the rate relativities in the Direct Pay PPO plan between age and gender; thus some contract-holders may receive rate adjustments that are less than or greater than the average. In addition, a new rating tier is being requested. The requested effective date of the change is October 1, 2007.

A copy of the filing is available on the Insurance Department's website at www.ins.state.pa.us. Under the Quick Links section, click on the link ''Rate Filings Published in the PA Bulletin.''
