DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATION AND NATURAL RESOURCES

Special Fall Round of Community Conservation Partnerships Program Grants Available

[52 Pa.B. 5956]
[Saturday, September 17, 2022]

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (Department) announces that applications are now being accepted for a special ''supplemental'' Fall 2022 round of Community Conservation Partnerships Program Grants. These grants are administered by the Bureau of Recreation and Conservation (Bureau).

The open application period began on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, and will end at 4 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2022. Eligible applicants include municipal entities and appropriate nonprofit organizations in this Commonwealth.

Applications must be submitted electronically through the Department's Grants Customer Service Portal at https://apps.dcnr.pa.gov/grants. Paper, faxed or e-mailed applications will not be accepted. Grant information, project guidance documents, program policies, applications and instructions are available on the portal.

For assistance with the portal, contact the Department's Grants Customer Service Center, (800) 326-7734, DCNR-Grants@pa.gov.

Grant assistance from the Department helps communities and organizations in this Commonwealth plan, acquire and develop recreation, park, and trail facilities, and conserve open space.

Funding for the special grant round comes from multiple sources, with the largest being the Federal American Rescue Plan Act funding made available to the Department through the Outdoor Recreation Program as part of the Commonwealth's Fiscal Year 2022-2023 budget.

Application process and project types largely mirror those for the typical spring application period for the Department's Community Conservation Partnerships Program Grants.

Unique to this round, municipalities with populations under 5,000 people can apply for projects with a reduced level of match. For these municipalities, match is only 20% of the grant amount with no cap on project size.

The Fall funding round also includes additional funding to support watershed and community forestry practices including tree planting, lawn conversion and riparian buffers.

A frequently asked questions document at https://elibrary.dcnr.pa.gov/GetDocument?docId=4594375&Doc Name=Grant%20Round%2028%20Supplemental%20Round %20FAQs.pdf has been put together with more information about the Fall funding round. Additional information will also be published through the Bureau's e-newsletter at https://signup.e2ma.net/signup/1884423/1893689/.

Bureau staff are available to assist applicants with developing a competitive application. Staff contact information can be found on the Bureau's web site at http://www.docs.dcnr.pa.gov/cs/groups/public/documents/document/d_001184.pdf.
