HealthChoices: Medical Assistance Managed Care, The Next Steps

   This is to announce the release by the Department of Public Welfare of a paper entitled: HealthChoices: Medical Assistance Managed Care, The Next Steps. For the purpose of this paper, the physical and behavioral health Request for Proposals (RFPs) released for Southeast Pennsylvania, should be considered the ''draft'' RFPs for Southwest Mandatory Managed Care Expansion. Outlined in the paper are decisions made on the structure and design of Statewide Mandatory Managed Care Expansion, beginning with the implementation of the Southwest Zone. This paper incorporates public comments on the Statewide Discussion Paper issued by the Department in December 1996.    A public meeting on Southwest Mandatory Managed Care Expansion will be held:

   Time:Friday, May 16, 1997, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
   Location:Allegheny County Courthouse

   Individuals or groups interested in providing comments at the meeting should contact Cissy Johnson at (717) 772-6288 to sign up for a time slot. In order to accommodate all who would like to speak, the Department is asking that remarks be limited to 5 minutes or less, and be submitted in writing as well. Remarks of longer duration will be accepted in writing only. Written comments may be provided at the public meeting or can be sent to: Department of Public Welfare, Office of Medical Assistance Programs, Attention: Cissy Johnson, Room 111, Cherry Wood Building #33, Harrisburg State Hospital Grounds, Harrisburg, PA 17110. The Department asks that written comments be submitted no later than Friday, May 30, 1997.

   A separate draft RFP and public meeting related to the Enrollment Assistance Program will be held in Summer 1997.
