Independence Blue Cross; Filing No. 10-P-98; Blue Cross Non-Group Rate Increase for Hospital Programs

   Independence Blue Cross submitted a request to increase the premium rates for its Non-Group Basic Blue Cross line of business by 22.1% and Special Care line of business by 7.7%. The proposed rate increase would affect approximately 28,000 contracts and would produce an additional annualized premium income of $5.2 million. An effective date of January 1, 1999 is requested.

   Copies of the filing are available for public inspection during normal working hours, by appointment, at the Insurance Department's Harrisburg and Philadelphia Regional Offices.

   Interested parties are invited to submit written comments, suggestions or objections to Bharat Patel, Actuary, Bureau of Accident and Health Insurance, Insurance Department, 1311 Strawberry Square, Harrisburg, PA 17120, within 30 days after publication of this notice in the Pennsylvania Bulletin.
