Highmark, Inc.; Filing No. 98160000; Requesting Authority to Increase Community-Rated Group Dental Programs

   Highmark, Inc. requests approval of an increase to its Pennsylvania Blue Shield and Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Community-rated Group Dental product rates. The filing requests an aggregate increase of 11.39%, varying by Blue Cross Plan Service Area. An effective date of October 1, 1998 is requested. This increase represents an annual increase to premium income of approximately $3.5 million and will affect 107,000 policyholders.

   The proposed increases by area are: Capital--14.0%, Northeastern Pennsylvania--8.0%, Western Pennsylvania--11.7%, and Independence--9.7%.

   Copies of the filing are available for public inspection during normal working hours, by appointment, at the Insurance Department's offices in Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Erie.

   Interested parties are invited to submit written comments, suggestions or objections to Carol E. Slack, Actuarial Supervisor, Insurance Department, Office of Rate and Policy Regulation, Bureau of Accident and Health Insurance, 1311 Strawberry Square, Harrisburg, PA 17120, within 30 days of the publication of this notice in the Pennsylvania Bulletin.
