OVR-3-99 The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, Williamsport District Office, The Grit Building, Suite 102, 208 West Third Street, Williamsport, PA 17701, will be soliciting competitive bids for contract to provide an interpreter for the deaf to work with an OVR Rehabilitation Counselor for the Deaf (a person who is deaf). Interpreting assignments will be in the Williamsport District Office area, comprised of Clinton, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Potter, Snyder, Tioga and Union Counties. An estimated 1,040 interpreting hours over a 12 month period will be needed. Maximum duration of the contract is 48 months contingent upon approved annual renewal. Interpreter will provide basic interpretation/transliteration services as assigned by the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation through the use of American Sign Language (ASL), Pidgin Sign Language, spoken English, gesturing, lip movements without voice, or other modes, to facilitate communication between persons who are deaf or hard of hearing and hearing persons. Interpreting services may be provided for situations such as job interviews, on-the-job training, meetings, public presentations, testing, hearings, conventions, workshops, staff meetings and governmental/political functions, and the like.
