[30 Pa.B. 2073] The Department of Public Welfare (Department) is announcing the opportunity for the public to comment on the plan to reprocure the services of physical health managed care plans for the HealthChoices Program in Southeast Pennsylvania. HealthChoices is the Department's mandatory managed care program for Medical Assistance consumers.
The Department currently contracts for managed care services with four health plans in the Southeast Zone, which includes Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties.
The Department intends to release a draft of the Request for Proposal (RFP) for public comment on or about April 22, 2000. Persons interested in requesting copies of the draft RFP, may do so by writing to DPW/OMAP, Division of Development and Support, P. O. Box 2675, Harrisburg, PA 17105-2675.
E-mail requests also will be accepted at the following address: draftRFP@dpw.state.pa.us.
Written comments may be sent to the above-mentioned address or e-mail address, and comments will be accepted until May 22, 2000.
The physical health plans awarded contracts with the Department will provide all physical health services such as primary care, dental care, pharmacy services and laboratory services. The plans will also ensure that members receive quality care and timely access to all appropriate health services whether the services are delivered on an inpatient or outpatient basis.
The formal RFP to reprocure the Southeast Zone will be released during September 2000, and the physical health contracts will become effective January 2002. Additional information regarding the Southeast Zone HealthChoices procurement will be provided in the Pennsylvania Bulletin at a later date.
