Applications for Watershed Restoration and Protection Grants Through the Growing Greener Program
[31 Pa.B. 52] As part of the third year of the Department of Environmental Protection's (DEP's) Growing Greener Program, applications are now being accepted for watershed protection and restoration grants.
For year three, DEP has more than $50 million to invest in a variety of watershed projects, including: organizing a watershed group; watershed assessments and development of watershed restoration and protection plans; implementation of watershed restoration or protection projects; demonstration; education/outreach programs; reclaiming abandoned mines and oil and gas wells; and addressing acid mine drainage polluted streams.
Applications are now being accepted online at www.dep.state.pa.us/ Direct LINK ''Round 3 App.'' The deadline for submitting applications to the DEP Grants Center is March 9, 2001. Applications must be postmarked (if mailed), or received (if hand delivered) by 4:30 p.m. on March 9. Faxed copies will not be accepted.
To provide personalized assistance in the application process, DEP is sponsoring a series of grant workshops throughout the state. The workshops feature grant writing tips, what makes a good project, and mini-sessions on how to apply for specific project types. DEP will offer two workshops on each of the following six dates. The afternoon workshop will begin at 1 p.m.; the evening workshop will begin at 6 p.m. The dates and locations of the workshops are as follows:
