Acceptance of Rulemaking Petition for Study
[31 Pa.B. 5508] At its September 18, 2001, meeting, the Environmental Quality Board (EQB) accepted a rulemaking petition for study under 25 Pa. Code Chapter 23 (relating to Environmental Quality Board policy for processing petitions--statement of policy).
The petition requests redesignation of Furnace Run in Lancaster and Lebanon Counties from the current existing use designation of Cold Water Fishes (CWF) to High Quality--Cold Water Fishes (HQ-CWF) or Exceptional Value (EV) status. Conestoga Valley High School science teacher Kerrie Snavely submitted the petition on behalf of a group of her senior high school students.
Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) staff will review the petition and supporting documentation to determine whether a higher classification for Furnace Run is warranted.
The petition is available from the Environmental Quality Board, P. O. Box 8477, Harrisburg, PA 17105-8477, (717) 787-4526, and on DEP's website at the following address: http://www.dep.state.pa.us/dep/subject/eqb/2001/Sep/Petition.pdf.
