Pennsylvania Rivers Conservation Registry

   The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (Department), Bureau of Recreation and Conservation has approved the ''Allegheny River Management Plan'' and is placing a portion of the Allegheny River corridor studied in the Plan in Venango County, on the Pennsylvania Rivers Conservation Registry (Registry).

   The Allegheny National Forest submitted the Allegheny River Management Plan and other required information to gain Registry status.

   After review of the Plan and other information, the Department has determined that the Department Rivers Conservation Program requirements have been satisfied and places the following on the Registry:

   1.  A segment of the Allegheny River Corridor, located within the municipal boundaries of Victory, Sandycreek, Rockland, Scrubgrass, Richland, Clinton and Cranberry Townships in Venango County.

   2.  All tributary streams within the Allegheny River Corridor area that are located within the municipal boundaries of Victory, Sandycreek, Rockland, Scrubgrass, Richland, Clinton and Cranberry Townships in Venango County.

   This action becomes effective today, January 27, 2001. Projects identified in the Allegheny River Conservation Management Plan become eligible for implementation, development or acquisition grant funding through the Department Rivers Conservation Program.

   A copy of the Final Plan is available for review at Allegheny National Forest Office, 222 Liberty Street, P. O. Box 847, Warren, PA 16365, (814) 723-5150 and Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Rachel Carson State Office Building, 400 Market Street, 6th floor, Harrisburg, PA 17101, (717) 787-2316.

   Maps and supporting data are on file at the Allegheny National Forest office.
