NOTICES

Availability of Technical Guidance

   Technical guidance documents are on the Department of Environmental Protection's (Department) website (www.dep.state.pa.us) at the Public Participation Center page. The ''July 2002 Inventory'' heading is the Governor's list of nonregulatory guidance documents. The ''Final Documents'' heading is the link to a menu of the various Department bureaus and from there to each bureau's final technical guidance documents. The ''Draft Technical Guidance'' heading is the link to the Department's draft technical guidance documents.

   The Department will continue to revise its nonregulatory documents, as necessary, throughout 2002.

Ordering Paper Copies of Department Technical Guidance

   The Department encourages the use of the Internet to view guidance documents. When this option is not available, persons can order a bound paper copy of the latest inventory or an unbound paper copy of any of the final documents listed on the inventory by calling the Department at (717) 783-8727.

   In addition, bound copies of some of the Department's documents are available as Department publications. Check with the appropriate bureau for more information about the availability of a particular document as a publication.

   Following is the current list of recent changes. Persons who have any questions or comments about a particular document should call the contact person whose name and phone number is listed with each document.

Draft Technical Guidance

   DEP ID: 383-0830-001. Title: Quality Management Plan for the Bureau of Water Supply and Wastewater Management. Description: This document will provide staff in central and field offices with an overview of data quality management and will aid in establishing an accurate and defendable basis for staff decisions. Draft Technical Guidance--Substantive Revision

   DEP ID: 383-0810-106. Title: Summary of Key Requirements for Surface Water Filtration. Description: This document is written in response to recent Federal ruling, which promulgated new requirements for surface water systems. Revisions are made to reflect new requirements for filtration design standards, turbidity performance standards, filter plant operations, monitoring and reporting. Notice of Intent to Add Technical Guidance

   DEP ID: 362-0830-001. Title: Locational Data Policy for Wastewater Management Program. Description: This document is written to standardize the minimum acceptable level of accuracy for locational data policy for water pollution control facilities. Effective Date: November 9, 2002. Final Technical Guidance

   DEP ID: 383-3120-106. Title: Guidance for Filter Plant Performance Evaluations. Description: This document contains the guidance and procedures developed to direct and support staff implementation of the requirements for the surface water treatment rule under the drinking water management programs. The purpose of the document is to establish a rationale and reasonable basis for staff decisions in the field, which will promote quality, timely and consistent service to the public and regulated community.    DEP ID: 383-2129-001. Title: Enhanced Coagulation Calculator Spreadsheet. Description: This spreadsheet will apply to filter plants using water or groundwater under the direct influence of surface water that practice conventional filtration treatment or softening as defined under the Pennsylvania Safe Drinking Water Act.
