Philadelphia Traffic Court; Administrative Order 01 of 2003
[33 Pa.B. 5814] And Now, this 7th day of November, 2003, in order to receive Traffic citations issued by law enforcement officers in a more timely and expeditious manner, It Is Hereby Ordered that the Philadelphia Traffic Court shall accept traffic citations prepared, verified, and transmitted electronically by a law enforcement officer. Provided, however, that the law enforcement officer who prepares and verifies the electronic citation must contemporaneously give the defendant a paper copy of the citation containing all of the information required by Pa.R.Crim. No. 403. It is further provided that the Traffic Court shall retain the said electronically transmitted data as required by applicable record retention schedules, and further that the Traffic Court, as the issuing authority, may be able to print out, if necessary, an exact copy of the citation that is issued to the defendant utilizing the electronically submitted data.
The original Administrative Order shall be filed with the Prothonotary in a docket maintained for Administrative Orders issued by the President Judge of the Philadelphia Traffic Court, and copies shall be submitted to the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts, the Legislative Reference Bureau, the Criminal Procedures Rules Committee, and the Minor Court Rules Committee. Copies of the Order shall also be submitted to American Lawyer Media, The Legal Intelligencer, Jenkins Memorial Law Library for the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania.
