Rule 1018 (Caption of Pleadings)

Order And Now, September 27, 2004, the court directs that the Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts shall not place in any court file any pleading or other legal paper unless the name or names of the party or parties appearing in the caption is or are substantially consistent with the name or names of the party or parties in the case bearing the number appearing on the pleading or other legal paper. When the number and the named party or parties are not consistent, the Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts shall promptly contact the attorney or party who filed the pleading or other legal paper to determine the intention of the party and shall then correct the caption as needed and only then shall the pleading be docketed and placed in the official court file.
