FISH AND BOAT COMMISSION
Extension of Periods during which Boats are Limited to Slow, No Wake Speed; Allegheny, Monongahela and Ohio Rivers (City of Pittsburgh)

[Saturday, June 17, 2006]The Executive Director of the Fish and Boat Commission (Commission), acting under the authority of 58 Pa. Code § 103.3(d) (relating to restriction for special areas), has taken action to extend the periods during which boats are limited to slow, no wake speed on the Allegheny, Monongahela and Ohio Rivers (Three Rivers) in the City of Pittsburgh. Currently, under 58 Pa. Code § 111.2(c) (relating to Allegheny County), boats are limited to slow, no wake speed from the Fort Pitt Bridge over the Monongahela River and the Fort Wayne (Norfolk Southern) Bridge over the Allegheny River to the West End Bridge over the Ohio River during certain periods, including the period from 3 p.m. on the day preceding July 4 until midnight of the holiday. The Executive Director has taken action to limit boats to slow, no wake speed in this area from 3 p.m. on June 30, 2006, to 7 a.m. on July 5, 2006. The Executive Director also has taken action to limit boats to slow, no wake speed in this area from 3 p.m. on July 7, 2006, to 7 a.m. on July 12, 2006.
The Executive Director has taken this action for the safety and welfare of the boaters in the Three Rivers Area. The restrictions established under the authority of § 103.3(c) shall be fully effective and enforceable in accordance with the law.
