Application of SAM Surgery Center for Exception

   Under 28 Pa. Code § 51.33 (relating to requests for exceptions), the Department of Health (Department) gives notice that SAM Surgery Center has requested an exception to the requirements of 28 Pa. Code § 153.1 (relating to minimum standards), which requires compliance with minimum standards contained in the following publication: Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospital and Healthcare Facilities. The facility specifically requests exemption from the following standards contained in this publication: 3.7-2.4.2 (relating to phase II recovery), 3.7-2.5.7.4 (relating to stretcher storage area) and 3.7-2.4.1.1(4) (relating to pediatric recovery area).

   The request is on file with the Department. Persons may receive a copy of a request for exception by requesting a copy from the Department of Health, Division of Acute and Ambulatory Care, Room 532, Health and Welfare Building, Harrisburg, PA 17120, (717) 783-8980, fax (717) 772-2163, dditlow@state.pa.us.

   Those persons who wish to comment on an exception request may do so by sending a letter by mail, e-mail or facsimile to the Division and address listed previously.

   Comments received by the Department within 10 days after the date of publication of this notice will be reviewed by the Department before it decides whether to approve or disapprove the request for exception.
