ADVERTISEMENT FOR PROPOSALS In accordance with Act 101 and Section 272 of the PA Solid Waste Rules and Regulations (as amended), the County of Pike is seeking waste disposal capacity for municipal waste (MSW) for a minimum of 5 years, with an option to extend said capacity for up to 5 additional years, for a total of 10 years. Pike County is hereby soliciting responses to qualify facilities to provide processing/disposal capacity for County-generated MSW, to begin on or after January, 2010.
Copies of Pike County's Facility Qualification Request (FQR) may be obtained from the Pike County Human Development Office, Pike County Administrative Building, 506 Broad Street, Milford, PA 18337 or by calling (570) 296-3434. All responses must be made on the Submittal Form and in accordance with the Instructions to Respondents provided in the FQR. The Respondent must submit the original and three copies to the address listed above, Attention Christine Obser by 3 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, August 11, 2009. Qualified facilities will be notified once all applications have been reviewed by the Pike County Solid Waste Advisory Committee.
Pike County reserves the right to reject any or all responses and to waive any informalities in the solicitation process.
Notice of Planning Grant Awards under Section 901 of the Municipal Waste Planning Recycling and Waste Reduction Act of 1988, Act 101 The Department of Environmental Protection (Department) hereby announces the following grants to counties under the Pennsylvania Municipal Waste Planning, Recycling and Waste Reduction Act of 1988, Act 101 (P. L. 556) sections 208 and 901 of the Waste Tire Recycling Act/Small Business and Household Pollution Prevention Act (Act 190 of 1996).
Planning grants are awarded to counties for 80% of approved costs for preparing municipal waste management plans as required by Act 101, for carrying out related studies, surveys, investigations, inquiries, research and analysis, including those related to siting, environmental mediation, education programs on pollution prevention and household hazardous waste and providing technical assistance to small businesses for pollution prevention. Grants may be awarded for feasibility studies and project development for municipal waste processing or disposal facilities, except for facilities for the combustion of municipal waste that are not proposed to be operated for the recovery of energy. All grant awards are predicated on the receipt of recycling fees required by sections 701 and 702 of Act 101, and the availability of monies in the Recycling Fund.

Location: Borough of Grove City, Mercer County, Grove City, PA 16127-0110.
Description: The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority, which administers the Commonwealth's State Revolving Fund, is intended to be the funding source for this project. The Borough of Grove City proposes to replace approximately 2,500 water meters in residences and businesses in the Borough of Grover City. The work will also include the installation of backflow prevention valves at approximately 300 commercial businesses locations in the Borough.
The Department's review of the project and the information received has not identified any significant, adverse environmental impact resulting from this proposal. The Department hereby categorically excludes this project from the State Environmental Review Process.
