[Saturday, August 15, 2009]Highmark, Inc. has filed for approval revised rates for Plan H with prescription drug benefits, policy number MB/W-H, of its nongroup MedigapBlue in the western Pennsylvania region. The rate increase percentage requested is 17.3%, and the average monthly premium increase is $36.09. The requested effective date of the revised rates is January 1, 2010. The most recent prior rate adjustment for this program took effect on January 1, 2009. The current rate for First Eligible issues is $209, and the requested rate is $245.10. The rate adjustment would affect approximately 873 members, and would produce approximately $378,000 in additional premium annually.
Unless formal administrative action is taken prior to October 28, 2009, the subject filing may be deemed approved by operation of law.
