Application for Approval of Proposed Merger of Harleysville Insurance Company of New York with and into Mainland Insurance Company

[Saturday, September 4, 2010]Harleysville Insurance Company of New York, a New York domiciled stock property and casualty insurance company, has filed an application for approval to merge with Mainland Insurance Company, a domestic stock casualty insurance company, with Mainland Insurance Company surviving the merger. The filing was made under Article XIV of The Insurance Company Law of 1921 (40 P. S. §§ 991.1401—991.1413); 15 Pa.C.S. §§ 1921—1932 (relating to merger, consolidation, share exchanges and sale of assets) and the GAA Amendments Act of 1990 (15 P. S. §§ 21101—21208).
Persons wishing to comment on the merger are invited to submit a written statement to the Insurance Department (Department) within 7 days from the date of this issue of the Pennsylvania Bulletin. Each written statement must include name, address and telephone number of the interested party; identification of the application to which the statement is addressed; and a concise statement with sufficient detail and relevant facts to inform the Department of the exact basis of the statement.
