Pennsylvania Potato Research Program

[41 Pa.B. 2703]
[Saturday, May 28, 2011]

Under the applicable provisions of 3 Pa.C.S. Chapter 45 (relating to Agricultural Commodities Marketing Act), a review referendum was held from April 4 to April 18, 2011, to determine if the producers affected by the Pennsylvania Potato Research Program (Program) desired to continue the Program for an additional 5 years. To pass, a majority of eligible producers voting had to vote in favor of the Program's continuation. An impartial Teller Committee met on April 29, 2011, to count the ballots. The following results were submitted by the Teller Committee: a total of 35 eligible votes were cast with 28 producers voting in favor of and 7 voting against the continuation of the Program. An additional three ballots were invalid because they were either incomplete or ineligible due to the acreage requirement. Votes favoring continuation of the Program by number of producers represented 80% of eligible votes and votes against continuation of the Program represented 20% of eligible votes. Because a majority of the votes were cast in favor of the Program, it shall continue for 5 years, effective immediately.

Secretary
