Breastfeeding Awareness and Support Program; Breastfeeding and Birthing Hospital and Birthing Centers Initiative for State Fiscal Year 2012-2013

[Saturday, March 31, 2012]The Department of Health's Breastfeeding Awareness and Support Program (Program) is announcing the Breastfeeding and Birthing Hospital and Birthing Centers Initiative for State Fiscal Year 2012-2013 (July 2, 2012, to June 30, 2013). This initiative aims to support and enhance existing breastfeeding activities within birthing hospitals/centers across this Commonwealth with the overarching goals of continuing to develop baby friendly birthing hospitals and centers and increasing this Commonwealth's overall breastfeeding initiation and duration rates.
Total funding of $50,000 is available to fund between 10 and 12 small no-bid grants at $3,000 to $4,999 each for the period of July 1, 2012, to June 30, 2013. Note, funding for these grants will not be made available until the State Fiscal Year 2012-2013 Commonwealth budget is passed by the Legislature.
