Application of The Commonwealth Medical College for Approval to Amend and Restate Its Articles of Incorporation

Notice of Opportunity for Hearing and
Invitation to ProtestUnder 24 Pa.C.S. § 6503(e) (relating to certification of institutions), the Department of Education (Department) will consider the application for approval of The Commonwealth Medical College to have a Certificate of Authority to amend and restate its Articles of Incorporation. Amendments are related to the make-up and powers of the Board of Directors (Board), stating its relationship to the Hospital Services Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania, d/b/a Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania and requiring a Super Majority Vote as defined by the articles for specific actions to be considered by the Board.
In accordance with 24 Pa.C.S. § 6503(e), the Department will act upon these items without hearing, unless, within 30 days after the publication of this notice in the Pennsylvania Bulletin, a written request for public hearing is filed with the Department, along with a notice of intervention, a petition to intervene or protest in accordance with 1 Pa. Code §§ 35.23 and 35.24 (relating to protests) or 1 Pa. Code §§ 35.27—35.32 (relating to intervention).
Petitions to intervene, protest and requests for hearing shall be filed with Carol M. D. Gisselquist, Higher Education Specialist, Department of Education, 333 Market Street, Harrisburg, PA 17126-0333, before 4 p.m. within 30 days after date of publication of this notice. Persons wishing to review the application should call (717) 783-8228 or write to the previously listed address to schedule a time for an in-office review. Duplicate copies of the application are not available.
Persons with a disability who wish to attend the hearing, if held, and require an auxiliary aid, service or other accommodation to participate should contact Carol M. D. Gisselquist at (717) 783-8228 to discuss how the Department may best accommodate their needs.
