Application for Approval to Merge with Hospital Service Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania, d/b/a Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania; Conclusion of Public Comment Period

[Saturday, January 3, 2015]The Insurance Department (Department) published notice of receipt of the previously-referenced filing at 44 Pa.B. 1297 (March 1, 2014). The notice afforded persons the opportunity to provide written comments on the filing to the Department on the grounds of public or private interest for an indefinite period of time to afford persons ample opportunity to provide written comments on the filing to the Department. In the notice published at 44 Pa.B. 1297, the Insurance Commissioner committed to a subsequent notice in the Pennsylvania Bulletin announc-ing the closing of the comment period. The Department subsequently held a public informational hearing on the filing in Scranton on November 12, 2014. At the conclusion of the public informational hearing, the Department announced that the public comment period would remain open for 30 days after the Department's consultants have issued their reports. The consultants' reports were made available on the Department's web site at www.insurance.pa.gov.
Persons wishing to comment on the grounds of public or private interest are invited to submit a written statement to the Insurance Department on or before February 2, 2015. Written statements must include the name, address and telephone number of the person making the statement, identification of the application to which the statement is addressed and a concise statement with sufficient details and relevant facts to inform the Department of the exact basis of the statement. Comments received will be part of the public record regarding the filing and will be made available on the Department's web site. Additionally, copies of the comments received will be forwarded to the applicant for appropriate response. The applicant's responses will also be made available on the Department's web site.
