Alternative Fuel Vehicle Rebate Program; Revisions
[47 Pa.B. 1696]
[Saturday, March 18, 2017]The Department of Environmental Protection (Department) announces the continued availability of grants to Commonwealth residents under the Alternative Fuel Vehicle Rebate Program (Program). The Program, administered by the Department through the Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant Program, provides rebates to Commonwealth residents to assist individuals with the incremental costs of purchasing an alternative fuel vehicle.
As of March 18, 2017, all alternative fuel vehicle rebates will be submitted online using the eGrants system. Submit an application at https://www.esa.dced.state.pa.us/Login.aspx.
In addition, beginning on March 18, 2017, the Department will be altering the rebate amounts for battery electric vehicles (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) to be supported by the Program. The Department will deploy a three-tier rebate system for these vehicle types.
o A $1,750 rebate for BEV and PHEV with a battery capacity greater than or equal to 20 kWh
o A $1,000 rebate for BEV and PHEV with a battery capacity between 10 kWh and 20 kWh
o A $750 rebate for BEV and PHEV with a battery capacity less than 10 kWh
There are no changes in rebate amounts for compressed natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, hydrogen, fuel cell or electric motorcycle, scooters, ATVs or low speed electric vehicles.
There are a limited number of rebates available at $1,750. The Program offered will be reassessed upon payment of the first 250 rebates at $1,750 or June 30, 2017, whichever occurs first.
The Program will continue to accept rebate applications by the current paper application format until March 17, 2017, in accordance with the current guidelines.
The Program guidelines and application instructions as well as an up-to-date listing of rebate availability can be accessed at http://www.dep.pa.gov (select ''Citizens,'' then ''Grants, Loans and Rebates,'' then ''Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant,'' then ''Alternative Fuel Vehicles'').
