Newborn Hearing Screening Program Monthly Hearing Screening Report

 The Infant Hearing Education, Assessment, Reporting and Referral (IHEARR) Act (11 P.S. §§ 876-1—876-9) requires hospitals, birth centers and midwives (submitters) to report the number of newborns and infants screened for hearing loss and the results of the screening to the Newborn Hearing Screening Program (Program), overseen by the Department of Health, Division of Newborn Screening and Genetics. Effective July 1, 2020, submitters without access to the Program's web-based case management system (iCMS) will no longer be required to submit an additional aggregate monthly hearing screening report. All submitters with access to iCMS are required to continue to report individual level hearing screening results for all hearing screenings completed (inpatient or outpatient screens) for all newborns birthed by the submitter through iCMS. All submitters without access to iCMS are required to continue to report individual hearing screening results for all hearing screenings completed (inpatient or outpatient screens) for all newborns birthed by the submitter on the Hearing Screening Reporting Form, to be faxed to the Program at (717) 705-9386.
