Draft Assessment and Strategy of Pennsylvania's Coastal Resources Management Program under Section 309 of the Coastal Zone Management Act; Availability for Public Comment

[Saturday, April 10, 2021]Pennsylvania's Coastal Resources Management Program has developed a draft Assessment and Strategy in accordance with section 309 of the Federal Coastal Zone Management Act of 1972 (16 U.S.C.A. § 1456b), as amended in 1990 and 1996. This assessment and strategy is part of a voluntary coastal zone enhancement grants program (Program) that encourages states and territories to develop program changes in one or more of the following nine coastal enhancement areas: coastal wetlands; coastal hazards; public access; marine debris; cumulative and secondary impacts; special area management planning; ocean/Great Lakes resources; energy and government facility siting and activities; and aquaculture. Under this Program, the United States Secretary of Commerce is authorized to make awards to states and territories to develop and submit for Federal approval program changes that support attainment of the objectives of one or more of the enhancement areas.
The draft 2016—2020 Section 309 Assessment and Strategy is available on the Department of Environmental Protection's (Department) web site at www.depgreenport.state.pa.us/elibrary/ (select ''Publications,'' then ''Compacts and Commissions Office'') or it can also be obtained by contacting the Department at ra-epcoastalzone@pa.gov or (717) 783-9491.
The Department will consider all comments received on or before Monday, May 10, 2021. Comments submitted by facsimile will not be accepted. All comments, including comments submitted by e-mail, must include the com-mentator's name and address. Commentators are encour-aged to submit comments using the Department's online eComment tool at www.ahs.dep.pa.gov/eComment or by e-mail to ecomment@pa.gov.
