Industrialized Commercial Buildings; Third Party Agency Applications

[Saturday, June 25, 2022]The Department of Community and Economic Development (Department), under section 5 of the Industrialized Housing Act (act) (35 P.S. § 1651.5) establishes administrative procedures for the implementation of the act which facilitates the use of industrialized housing, buildings, and housing or building components in this Commonwealth consistent with safeguarding the health, safety and welfare of citizens of this Commonwealth.
At this time the Department is accepting a letter of intention from the designated employee of an agency who wishes to become an evaluation agency, an inspection agency, or both, for the purposes of industrialized (commercial) buildings and building components.
Once the letter of intention is received, under section 145.73 of the act, the Department will provide a written application form to the designated employee.
Requirements:
Those agencies and qualified personnel wishing to be eligible to become a third-party agency for the purposes of industrialized buildings or building components are required to have and maintain the following certifications under the International Code Council:
Evaluation Services Qualifications:
- Building Plans Examiner
- Plumbing Plans Examiner
- Mechanical Plans Examiner
- Electrical Plans Examiner
Inspection Services Qualifications:
- Commercial Building Inspector
- Commercial Plumbing Inspector
- Commercial Mechanical Inspector
- Commercial Electrical Inspector
Accessibility Inspector/Plans Examiner:
