Changes to Supplemental Payments to Qualifying Hospitals

The Department of Human Services (Department) announced its intent to allocate funding for Fiscal Year (FY) 2023-2024 for supplemental payments for certain acute care general hospitals that provide a high volume of services to Medical Assistance (MA) eligible and low-income populations in nonrural medically underserved areas at 53 Pa.B. 8003 (December 23, 2023). The Department subsequently announced it would not allocate funding for this payment at 54 Pa.B. 2428 (May 4, 2024).
Purpose of Notice
Although the Department previously announced that it would not allocate funding for FY 2023-2024 for supplemental payments for certain acute care general hospitals that provide a high volume of services to MA eligible and low-income populations in nonrural medically underserved areas, this notice provides information on how the public may submit comments.
Fiscal Impact
The Department will not allocate the $5.449 million in total funds (State and Federal) for the supplemental payments identified previously.
Public Comment
Interested persons are invited to submit written comments regarding this notice to the Department of Human Services, Office of Medical Assistance Programs, c/o Regulations Coordinator, P.O. Box 2675, Harrisburg, PA 17120 or to RA-PWMAProgComments@pa.gov. Comments received within 30 days will be reviewed and considered for any subsequent revision of the notice.
