Highmark Inc.; Requesting Approval to Increase Rates for Special Care Medical Surgical Program; Filing No. 1-SCMS-99-HI
[29 Pa.B. 4396] By Filing No. 1-SCMS-99-HI, Highmark Inc., d/b/a Pennsylvania Blue Shield, requests approval to increase its premium rates for its Special Care Medical/Surgical Plans in the Independence Blue Cross and Blue Cross of Northeast Pennsylvania regions. No change is requested for the Capital Blue Cross and Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield regions. The filing requests an average increase of about 4.5% of current premium. Increase will vary by region. This will affect about 18,400 contract holders and produce additional premium income of about $0.4 million. The requested effective date of the change is January 1, 2000.

Independence Blue Cross Blue Cross Northeastern PA Individual $30.75 $24.50 Parent/Child(ren) $46.15 $36.75 Two Adult $61.55 $48.95 Family $76.90 $61.25 % Increase 3.6% 11.6% Copies of the filing are available for public inspection during normal working hours, by appointment, at the Insurance Department's offices in Harrisburg, Pittsburgh and Erie.
Interested parties are invited to submit written comments, suggestions or objections to Bharat Patel, Actuary, Insurance Department, Accident and Health Bureau, Office of Rate and Policy Regulation, 1311 Strawberry Square, Harrisburg, PA 17120, within 30 days of publication of this notice in the Pennsylvania Bulletin.
