Application for Acquisition of a Controlling Interest of a Domestic Insurance Company

[Saturday, August 11, 2007]Columbia Insurance Company, a Nebraska insurance corporation, has filed an application to acquire control of The Pennsylvania Reinsurance Company. The initial filing was received on July 26, 2007, and was made under Article XIV of the Insurance Company Law of 1921 (40 P. S. § 991.1401--991.1413). Persons wishing to comment on the grounds of public or private interest in this acquisition are invited to submit a written statement to the Insurance Department (Department) within 30 days from the date of publication of this notice in the Pennsylvania Bulletin. Each written statement must include the name, address and telephone number of the interested party, identification of the application to which the statement is addressed and a concise statement with sufficient details and relevant facts to inform the Department of the exact basis of the statement.
