   The Commonwealth is seeking proposals from qualified organizations or individuals with an interest in utilizing the approximately 1,780 acres comprising the current Graterford Pennsylvania State Correctional Campus located in the suburbs of Philadelphia. The purpose of this request is to determine if any interest exists to privatize the construction of two new 2,000 bed facilities (one maximum-security and one medium-security) and approvals to construct an additional 2,000 bed medium-security facility to be located in eastern Pennsylvania within a 50-mile radius of the existing Graterford campus, in exchange for all or part of the Graterford real estate. The Commonwealth plans to review all proposals that would effectively fund the necessary construction previously mentioned. The Commonwealth wishes to remain flexible and encourages interested parties to present any unique strategies that may accomplish the listed objective. Any potential agreement will be contingent on legislation.
