Application of the Washington Township Independent School District for Transfer from the Dover Area School District to the Northern York County School District

Notice of Public Hearing The Special Committee of the State Board of Education (Board) established to facilitate the Board's consideration of the Application of the Washington Township Independent School District (Washington Township) to transfer from the Dover Area School District (Dover) to the Northern York County School District (Northern) will conduct a public hearing on June 3 and 4, 2015. The hearing will be held in the Jury Assembly Room, 4th Floor, York County Judicial Center, 45 North George Street, York, PA 17401. On Wednesday, June 3, 2015, the hearing will convene at 10 a.m. On Thursday, June 4, 2015, the hearing will reconvene at 9 a.m.
At its public meeting on March 11, 2015, the Special Committee of the Board accepted the petitions of intervention filed by Dover, Northern, the Dover Area Education Association (DAEA) and representatives of Keep Us In Dover Schools (KIDS). The purpose of the hearing is to receive evidence from Washington Township, Dover, Northern, DAEA and KIDS for the Board's consideration in making a determination on the application for transfer.
Following the conclusion of evidentiary proceedings, the Board will provide an opportunity for comment from members of the public who wish to provide remarks on the application for transfer. Public comment is limited to no more than 5 minutes per person. Individuals wishing to make a comment at the public hearing must register in advance no later than Wednesday, May 27, 2015, by contacting the Board at (717) 787-3787 (TYY (717) 783-8445), Monday through Friday (excluding holidays), between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Individuals with disabilities needing special accommodations to participate or attend the hearing, such as sign language interpreter services, must contact the Board at the previously listed telephone number by Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at 4 p.m. Persons with disabilities are invited to submit public comments in alternative formats such as Braille or taped testimony and by means of the telephone. Written and alternative formats of public comments will be afforded the same thoughtful consideration by the Board as oral remarks.
