Newborn Screening Awareness Month; Virtual Meeting of Education Event September 2020

 September 2020 has been declared Newborn Screening Awareness Month. In recognition of this declaration, the Department of Health, Bureau of Family Health, Division of Newborn Screening and Genetics has partnered with the Newborn Screening and Follow-Up Technical Advisory Board to host an Education Event. The event will be conducted on Thursday, September 24, 2020, from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. as a virtual Skype teleconference. The dial-in number is +1 267-332-8737 and the conference access ID is 467073991#. Invitations will also be distributed electronically to internal program staff and external partners.

 The agenda will include presentation of a Proclamation from the Commonwealth, Office of the Governor; background information about the three types of newborn screening—dried bloodspot, hearing and critical congenital heart defect; current program information; future program updates; and testimonials highlighting the positive impact newborn screening has had on the health and well-being of babies and families.
