A Concurrent Resolution

 Extending in whole the disaster emergency declared on January 28, 2022, and extended in whole by the General Assembly until March 31, 2022, in response to the Forbes Avenue/Fern Hollow Bridge Collapse.

Whereas, On January 28, 2022, the Governor issued a proclamation declaring a disaster emergency in response to the collapse of the Forbes Avenue/Fern Hollow Bridge in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County; and

Whereas, Multiple vehicles were driving on the bridge at the time of the collapse; and

Whereas, Vehicles, motorists and passengers fell approximately 100 feet during the collapse; and

Whereas, Motorists and first responders sustained injuries as a result of the collapse; and

Whereas, The City of Pittsburgh and surrounding political subdivisions continue to experience adverse effects to include ongoing traffic disruptions in and around the scene of the incident; and

Whereas, These adverse impacts are of such magnitude or severity as to render essential the Commonwealth's supplementation of county and municipal efforts and resources and the activation of all applicable State, county and municipal emergency response plans; and

Whereas, Recovery and rebuilding efforts in response to the damage caused by the collapse remain ongoing; and

Whereas, On February 9, 2022, the Senate and the House of Representatives both adopted House Resolution No. 173 which extended in whole the declaration of disaster emergency until March 31, 2022; and

Whereas, Extending the disaster declaration will ensure that the Department of Transportation is eligible to receive and will continue to seek emergency relief funding from the Federal Government to assist the City of Pittsburgh; therefore be it

Resolved (the Senate concurring), That the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in accordance with section 20(c) of Article IV of the Constitution of Pennsylvania, extend in whole until September 30, 2022, the disaster emergency declared on January 28, 2022, and extended in whole until March 31, 2022, in response to the collapse of the Forbes Avenue/Fern Hollow Bridge in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, except as terminated or extended, in whole or in part, by the General Assembly; and be it further

Resolved, That, upon adoption of this concurrent resolution by both chambers of the General Assembly, the Secretary of the Senate and the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives notify the Governor of the General Assembly's action; and be it further

Resolved, That the Secretary of the Senate and the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit this concurrent resolution to the Legislative Reference Bureau for publication in the Pennsylvania Bulletin under 45 Pa.C.S. § 725(a)(4); and be it further

Resolved, That this concurrent resolution take effect immediately.
