Amendment Referendum of the Pennsylvania Potato Research Program

[Saturday, July 29, 2023]Under the applicable provisions of 3 Pa.C.S. §§ 4501—4513 (relating to Agricultural Commodities Marketing Act), an amendment referendum was held from May 30, 2023, to June 29, 2023, to determine if the producers affected by the Pennsylvania Potato Research Program (Program) assented to amend the Program as described in the Referendum Order published at 53 Pa.B. 1811 (April 1, 2023), more particularly by raising the assessment fee from $8 per acre to $10 per acre. A teller committee met on July 14, 2023, to count the ballots. The results were as follows: a total of 16 eligible votes were cast with 12 producers voting in favor of and 4 producers voting against the amendment. Eligible producers voting in favor of the Program amendment represented 75% of the votes. Producers voting against the proposed amendment represented 25% of the votes. There were no spoiled or ineligible ballots. In accordance with the foregoing, the Program Order is amended as proposed in the Referendum Order published at 53 Pa.B. 1811 and shall become effective January 1, 2024.
