Retention of an Engineering Firm

[28 Pa.B. 3569]

Redecking of the Delaware River Bridge
Bucks County
Reference No. 4-050

The Turnpike Commission will retain an engineering firm to perform preliminary and final design for the deck replacement of the girder spans on the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware River Bridge (ten spans totaling approximately 1,240 feet in length). The Delaware River Bridge connects the New Jersey Turnpike and the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

The engineering services required will include the following tasks: review of an existing redecking study and in-depth bridge inspection report, development of preliminary traffic control and structure plans, utility investigation and coordination, preparation of final traffic control and structure plans, and preparation of all necessary contract documents in order for the Commission to proceed with advertisement and construction. Because Span 10 of the girder spans crosses AMTRAK rail lines, coordination will also be necessary with AMTRAK. In addition, coordination will be necessary with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, Pennsylvania Game Commission and other associated agencies. This coordination is necessary to provide the proper protection during construction for any peregrine falcons that may nest on the Delaware River Bridge.

Direct any inquiries to Brian M. Ranck, P.E., at (717) 939-9551, Extension 3630; or by FAX at (717) 986-8742; or by e-mail at branck@paturnpike.com.
