Application of Wonderview Independent School District for Transfer from Southern Columbia Area School District to Bloomsburg Area School District

Notice of Opportunity for Hearing

   On December 4, 2000, the State Board of Education (State Board) received a certified copy of a decree of the Court of Common Pleas of the 26th Judicial District of Pennsylvania--Columbia County Branch--creating the Wonderview Independent School District (Wonderview) for the sole purpose of its transfer from the Southern Columbia Area School District (Southern Columbia) to the Bloomsburg Area School District (Bloomsburg), pursuant to section 242.1 of the Public School Code of 1949 (24 P. S. § 2-242.1).

   On January 18, 2001, the State Board adopted a resolution establishing procedures for consideration of the application to transfer Wonderview (consisting of an area of Catawissa Township, Columbia County) from Southern Columbia to Bloomsburg. In accordance with the resolution and the regulations of the State Board (22 Pa. Code § 1.5 (relating to applicability of general rules before the Board)), the application for transfer will be considered by the State Board under the General Rules of Administrative Practice and Procedure (1 Pa. Code Part II). The chairperson of the State Board has appointed a committee to conduct all necessary proceedings under the General Rules and to recommend action by the State Board under section 293.1 of the Public School Code (24 P. S. § 2-293.1).

   Please be advised that unless a written petition to intervene, notice of intervention or protest, along with a written request for public hearing, is received by the State Board no later than 4 p.m. on February 15, 2001, the State Board may determine the application for transfer without hearing. All filings must be received by the deadline at the State Board offices at 333 Market Street, Harrisburg, PA 17126-0333.
