Petition of United Way of Pennsylvania for Information and Referral for the Assignment of 2-1-1 Abbreviated Dialing Code and the Designation of PA 2-1-1 as the Lead Implementing Agency for Pennsylvania 2-1-1 Service; Doc. No. P-2009-2136921

 On October 19, 2009, under the provisions of 52 Pa. Code § 5.41, the United Way of Pennsylvania, the state association representing local United Way chapters that serve communities throughout this Commonwealth, filed a petition requesting the assignment of the 2-1-1 abbreviated dialing code to the not-for-profit organization, PA 2-1-1, so that it can be the leading implementing agency of the 2-1-1 abbreviated dialing code for the provision of Information and Referral Services for this Commonwealth.

 Upon review of the Petition, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (Commission) has determined that the solicitation of public comment is appropriate. Interested parties must submit comments within 10 days of publication in the Pennsylvania Bulletin.

 Interested parties must file the original and 15 copies of any comment with the Secretary of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, P. O. Box 3265, Harrisburg, PA 17105-3265. Copies of the petition may be obtained from the Commission's web site on the Telecommunications homepage at http://www.puc.state.pa.us/telecom/telecom_index.aspx.
