Jurisdictional HIV prevention planning is a required activity of the grant received by the Department's Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Integrated HIV Surveillance and Prevention Programs for Health Departments grant. Additionally, the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Extension Act of 2009 (Pub.L. No. 111-87), previously known as the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency Act of 1990 (42 U.S.C.A. §§ 300ff-21—300ff-38), requires that the Department engage in a public advisory planning process in developing a comprehensive plan. The purpose of these meetings is to conduct an integrated prevention and care HIV planning process by which the Department works in partnership with the community and stakeholders to enhance access to HIV prevention, care and treatment services.
