HMO
Staff or group model HMOs may be considered health care providers under the Pennsylvania Peer Review Protection Act (63 P. S. § 425.1 et seq.), in appropriate cases. McClellan v. Health Maintenance Organization, 660 A.2d 97 (Pa. Super. 1995).
Peer Review Protection Act
Because an IPA model HMO is neither a direct health care practitioner, nor the administrator of a health care facility, it cannot be embraced by the confidentiality protections of the Peer Review Protection Act (63 P. S. § 425.1 et seq.). McClellan v. HMO of Pa., 686 A.2d 881 (Pa. Cmwlth. 1996).
