§ 44.2. Construction.
(a) This chapter shall be construed liberally for the accomplishment of the purposes of the act.
(b) This chapter will be construed consistently with other relevant Federal and State laws and regulations except where the construction would operate in derogation of the purposes of the act and this chapter.
Comment The purpose of subsection (b) is to make clear the Commissions intent to avoid varying and perhaps conflicting sets of rules and regulations for those subject to obligations created by this chapter. Thus, to the extent feasible, the Commission will consider compliance with prevailing requirements under sections 503504 of the Federal 1973 Rehabilitation Act, Federal and State architectural barriers laws, etc., to satisfy the requirements of this chapter.
