§ 39.293. Control of energy supply to cars and cranes.
(a) Readily accessible means shall be provided whereby conductors and equipment located in or on cars or cranes may be disconnected entirely from the source of energy at a point as near as possible to the trolley or other current collectors.
(b) A circuit breaker or switch, capable of interrupting the circuit under heavy loads, shall be used unless the current collector may be safely removed, under heavy loads, from the trolley or third rail.
(c) If a car is operated in locations other than private rights of way and equipped with both trolley and third-rail current collectors, means shall be provided by which any exposed third-rail collector may be readily disconnected from the trolley circuit when not in use.
